Is it normal for eSIM to show "Activating"? (Installed in Taiwan)

Many people want to install an eSIM before leaving the country (while still in Taiwan). At this time, your phone may show that the eSIM plan is in the " Activating" or " Waiting to be activated " state.

Please don't worry! This is perfectly normal .

📌 Why does it show "Enabled"?

The eSIM activation status depends on the type of purchase and network connectivity .

  1. Not yet connected to the target network:

    • The travel eSIM plan you purchase is locked to the network of the telecom operator at your destination .

    • When you are in Taiwan, your phone cannot connect to overseas network signals, so the eSIM chip cannot complete the final registration and activation process and will get stuck in the "Activating" or "Waiting to be Activated" state.

  2. Avoid activating in the wrong location:

    • Providers (such as Yosim Internet Access for Overseas Use ) usually set the activation time to start counting only after connecting to the local network, which ensures that your usage time in Taiwan is not wasted.

✅ Correct steps and precautions for installing eSIM in Taiwan

If you choose to install the eSIM plan purchased from yosim.com.tw at your home in Taiwan, please be sure to follow these steps:

Step 1: Complete the installation (In Taiwan, it is recommended to install it on the day you intend to use it and on the day of departure).

  1. In an environment with Wi-Fi , follow the eSIM installation tutorial (scan the QR code or install with one click) to download the eSIM and join the mobile plan.

  2. In your phone settings, name the new eSIM plan (e.g., "yosim Japan").

  3. At this time, the eSIM status will show " Enabled " or " Off ". Do not manually delete it .

Step Two: Operations after arrival at the destination (overseas)

This is a crucial step towards final activation!

  1. Turn off airplane mode: After the plane lands, turn off airplane mode on your phone.

  2. Switch action data:

    • Go to your phone's "Settings" > "Mobile Data/Mobile Services".

    • Switch the source of " Mobile Data " to the eSIM plan you just installed.

  3. Enable data roaming (most crucial):

    • Select the eSIM plan to enter detailed settings, and be sure to enable "Data Roaming" .

  4. Automatic connection: The phone will automatically begin searching for and connecting to the local telecommunications network. Once the connection is successful, the "Activating" status will disappear, and normal internet access will begin.

💡 Friendly reminder: Avoid activating the device prematurely!

Dear traveler, since eSIMs are non-refundable and non-reissueable once redeemed, if you accidentally activate it after installation in Taiwan, causing your plan's time to start calculating prematurely, we will not be able to reissue you a new eSIM ! To ensure your rights and a pleasant journey, please be sure to activate data roaming only after arriving at your destination to avoid having to purchase it again.

For worry-free internet access abroad, choose Yosim! We provide a seamless experience from installation to activation.
